It’s a new year!

Hello everyone, and a very happy new year to you all! I hope that the year has been good to you so far, and I’m wishing each and every one of you a happy and healthy 2025. I’d like to start this year off with a brief thank you for your continued support of this great community. It’s your enthusiasm that helps keep this page running, and I hope you’re all enjoying the ride just as much as I am.

With that said, I hope you all enjoyed painting along to the last live loose broadcast of 2024. Cool florals are always a fun paint, and it’s hard to think of anything else during winter except the cold. So did you all like ‘Floral in Snow?’ There’s plenty more exciting loose broadcasts coming your way this next year, so if there’s anything in particular that you’d like to paint, just reach out and let me know! I’m always open to new ideas.

Speaking of past broadcasts, I’m quite curious! Which one was your favourite?

With it being January, it’s the perfect time of year to have a think about what your painting goals are at the moment. Maybe you’ve just been introduced to the loose style, or maybe you want to improve the skills you’ve already mastered. Whatever your aims are, there’s a whole host of tutorials available on loosewatercolours.com, the one stop shop for all things loose. If you have a look this week, there’s a new tutorial available, ‘Enamel & Petals,’ a delicate floral design with some vibrant shades of pink and green to play with. You can give it a go yourselves by following the link here: loosewatercolours.com

And if you want a little bit more practice, why not consider joining my Patreon site? There’s lots of tutorials available on there every week, including an exclusive live broadcast just for Patreon members, and this week’s was ‘Skating in the City.’ You can find it by following the link here: https://www.patreon.com/andrewgeesonloosewatercolours

Watercolour Basics #0: Interlude

This week, I thought we’d take a brief interlude from our watercolour basics series, mainly as I’m finishing the rest of the videos for you all to enjoy in the coming weeks. In the meantime, though, why not take a trip down memory lane and refresh your simple drawing skills with the help of the video below! After all, you can never practice enough, and every little helps!

That’s all for this week, as I’m just coming back off of the holidays, but there’s lots more exciting things in store for loose watercolours this year. I won’t spoil too much, as that would ruin the fun, but let’s just say that it’s going to be exciting!

As per usual, there’s an exclusive paid post at the end of this Substack for all of you paid subscribers, as an enormous thank you for all of your generous support. I hope you all enjoy painting along to ‘Dizzy Daisy!’ I’d love to see how you all get on, so if you’re not already on the Beginners Facebook group, why not get yourselves over there and post your finished pictures there? You can find it by following the link here: https://m.facebook.com/groups/753969806117098/?ref=share

Until next time though, it’s goodbye from Toby and I, and we’ll be back in your inboxes very soon. But in the meantime, it’s a very happy new year from both of us, and happy painting!

‘Dizzy Daisy.’
