Hello everyone, and welcome back to another week of Loose Watercolours. We hope everything is going okay for you painting-wise, and there’s lots and new and exciting stuff going on in Looseville this week for you to get stuck into!
It was lovely to see so many faces at last week’s Live Broadcast, and I hope you all enjoyed painting along to ‘Spring Table.’ We had some fun with some bright, bold colours now that spring is in season, and who doesn’t love to paint with some pastel shades? It’s certainly a nice way to get into the Easter mood now that it’s getting nearer. If you want to join in the fun this week, remember that tonight’s broadcast is on at the usual time of 8pm GMT, and you can find it by clicking the link here.
If you’re feeling a little thirsty, why not put a cuppa on and find some inspiration wile you’re at it? At least, that’s what this week’s Patreon tutorial is all about. ‘Kettle On’ is perfect for those of you who fancy a steamy brew, or just if you want to practice some dramatic lighting in your watercolours. If you want to paint along, you can find the link to my Patreon here.
I’ve been practicing my springtime scenes this week now that the weather’s a tad warmer. What do you think to this one? Springtime in the city – a street scene.
If you’ve made a springtime resolution to really practice your painting this year, why not treat yourself this Easter to a lovely set of the Loose Gang brushes? With the whole set, you can cover all of your watercolour bases, and you can paint all of the beautiful floral scenes you’d like with a full range of brush textures. You can get yourselves a set right here.
And if you’d like to get notified as soon as a new tutorial is posted, why not join in the painting fun over at Loose Watercolour Beginners over on Facebook? You’ll never miss a live broadcast again. There’s also a community of over 2,500 beginner painters sharing beautiful work – so perfect for inspiration – and there’s all sorts of helpful tips and tricks being posted to help you along in your watercolour journey. It’s a lot of fun! You can find the link to the group here.
That’s all from me this week, as Toby and I are heading out for the afternoon – there’s a village fete on and we’ve heard some mentions of homemade cake being available, and that’s not an opportunity we want to pass up!
As always, there’s an exclusive video available at the end of this post for all of you paid subscribers, as an extra special thank you for all of your support on this Substack. This week, your challenge is to paint an apple – bonus points if it looks god enough to eat! I hope you all enjoy painting along to ‘Apple Day!’
Until next time, though, it’s goodbye from Toby and I, and in the meantime, happy painting!
