Wet weather this week.

Hello everyone, and welcome back to another week of loose watercolours with me, your host! Did you get any painting done these past few days? Did you have a relaxing week? I hope so. A slightly rainier edition this week, as it’s absolutely bucketing it down outside my window, but that just means a bigger excuse to stay inside and paint all day!

It was a joy, as always, to see so many of you joining in the weekly live broadcast last week, where we painted along to ‘Wicker Basket.’ I hope it brought a burst of summer sun into your lives, as it certainly did mine – reminding me of slightly sunnier days out in the garden. I’ve also really enjoyed seeing all of your paintings on the Loose Watercolour Group on Facebook – they’re all fabulous, and you’re all certainly improving your skills in leaps and bounds! If you’d like to join in the fun on the next live broadcast, they’re typically held every Monday night at 8pm GMT, and you can paint along by accessing the link here: https://loosewatercolours.com/live-broadcast/

And if you’d like to see all of the lovely paintings yourselves, why not join the Loose Watercolour Beginner’s Facebook Group? It’s a lovely welcoming community of beginner artists just like yourselves, and it’s the perfect place to find tips and tricks as to how to improve your painting. If you’d like to join in the fun, here’s the link: https://m.facebook.com/groups/753969806117098/?ref=share

If you’d like to test your skills on a slightly more difficult tutorial this week, why not try out ‘Cornflower Days?’ It’s a beautifully summery paint, and you can find it now on loosewatercolours.com!

For those of you who support my Patreon, there’s another new tutorial available on there this week as well, so don’t miss out! ‘Blue Rose’ is a simple tutorial aimed at beginners, so relax, have a cuppa tea, and paint along! I’ve been on a few plein air adventures this week, and I’ve got some great painting practice done. If you ever do see me out and about, please pop over and say hi! Recently, I had a great day out painting in Northamptonshire – I love painting in the plein air style, as it really pushes me out of my comfort zone, yet it’s also so relaxing with all of the fresh air and the natural beauty. I’d really recommend giving it a go yourselves – so be brave, gather your brushes, and go outside and paint (weather depending, of course).

That’s all from me this week, as Toby and I have just come back from a wet walk in the rain, and I think we both need to dry off a little. Thinking of dryer weather, though, this week’s exclusive paid tutorial wouldn’t go amiss in your summer garden – it’s a ‘Floral Watering Can!’ I hope you all enjoy painting along to this as much as I did. Once again, an enormous thank you for all of your support, as this Substack couldn’t run without you. Until next time, though, it’s goodbye from Toby and I, and we’ll be back in your inboxes very soon.
