Cool winds this week

Hello everyone, I’m back in your inboxes with some more loose watercolour updates! That’s right, I’m back off my travels and I’m back home in England – with some lovely paintings to show for it! How was your week? Did you manage to relax? Did you get any painting done? Or did you just hide inside from the cold weather and the slight chill in the air? However you spent your week, I hope it was a good one.

As you may have noticed, there wasn’t a live broadcast last week, and that’s because I was away. That’s right, I’ve been in sunny Nice for the past week – it’s a lovely city on the south coast of France, just by the Italian border. The weather was slightly nicer than it was over here, and the Loose Gang certainly enjoyed it! It was 24 degrees, so they got a nice even tan on the beach!

The Loose Gang found a relaxing spot on the beach.

Of course, as you can imagine, I got a spot of painting done – and how could I pass up such an opportunity with such beautiful surroundings as inspiration? I ended up doing a couple of paintings outside the Opera House, and we met a few locals along the way.

All in all, a nice few days away! It was nice to enjoy the sun for a little while longer and pretend it wasn’t getting increasingly chillier back home. And I always love to travel about and see all the different things to paint.

In other news this week, there’s a new tutorial on loosewatercolours.com, ‘Pink and Blue for You.’ It’s a nice and easy beginners’ floral, so get your brushes ready to create some bright and beautiful blooms! And who doesn’t want to paint some lovely colourful flowers? I know I certainly want to. If you’d like to give it a go, you can visit the website here: loosewatercolours.com

And obviously with the cold snap in the air, that can only mean one thing! Halloween is just around the corner! With it being spooky season, I thought we’d have some fun with some scary inspiration, so this week’s Patreon tutorial is ‘Ghost in the Woods.’ Have some fun painting along, but be careful not to give yourselves too much of a fright! You can watch the video here: https://www.patreon.com/andrewgeesonloosewatercolours

‘Ghost in the Woods.’ Boo!

If you’d like some more watercolour practice, be sure to look at the loose watercolour members group! With over three hundred fully narrated tutorials, there’s plenty of fun to be had practicing your brush strokes and improving your skills. And you can take your pick of whatever subjects you’d like to paint – whether it’s florals, animals, landscapes, or even city scenes! Have a browse through the collection here: loosewatercolours.com/memberships

This week, I thought we’d also take a look at the Loose Gang themselves. If you’re new here, the Loose Gang are the loose watercolour brush staples, and they help us to paint along in the loose style. I’d explain more, but it’s probably more fun to watch!

That’s all from me this week, as the nights are drawing in, which can only mean one thing – it’s time to put the kettle on! As usual, there’s an exclusive tutorial at the end of this post exclusively for paid subscribers – after all, I wouldn’t be able to run this Substack without your generous support! So I hope you all enjoy painting along to ‘Trees of Autumn.’ I look forward to seeing how you get on!

In the meantime, have a lovely week, and happy painting!
