Hello everyone, and welcome back to another week of loose watercolours! I hope you’ve all had a relaxing past few days – it’s a little bit damper here at the moment, so I think all that summer excitement may have been a little bit short-lived. Which, also, sadly means there’s not really been a chance to get out painting this week, as rain water and loose watercolours isn’t exactly a winning formula. Hopefully there’ll be sunny skies back around before we know it!
Last week’s live broadcast was the lovely ‘Tulips on Check Cloth.’ Thank you to all of you that joined in the fun, and I hope you all enjoyed painting along as much as I did! We had some fun and some laughs along the way, and at the end, we ended up with beautiful picture! I’ve seen some of your versions on the Loose Watercolour Beginners Facebook Group, and I have to say, I’m very impressed! You’re all improving in leaps and bounds, and you should all be very pleased with yourselves!
If you’d like some more loose watercolour practice this week (and who doesn’t?), there’s another tutorial available on Patreon – ‘Hello Ladybird… Hello Bee.’ It’s a simple little Wash & Line tutorial, so perfect to practice if you want to create some more defined shapes, and also a great one for a little bit of summer fun! You can find the tutorial by following this link here: https://www.patreon.com/andrewgeesonloosewatercolours
And that’s not all for Patreon this week! There’s also another tutorial available, ‘Simple Blue for You,’ so get your paints out and prepped for an afternoon of watercolour fun! This one’s a fun little floral, perfect for any occasions you might have coming up – whether a birthday gift for a friend or loved one, or just something to brighten up your mantlepiece. Whatever you do with your finished masterpieces, this little number is perfect to add to your collection. Again, here’s the link: https://www.patreon.com/andrewgeesonloosewatercolours
Loose watercolours have taken me out and about this week, as I ran a workshop for beginner artists in Nottingham. We all had a great time, with lots of fun and laughs along the way. It’s always a party when loose watercolours are involved, and this one was no different!
I also got a little bit of personal practice in this week, so here’s a little loose moment in the city! I had fun with some blue hues in this painting to give it a relaxing feel!
That’s all from me this week, as Toby and I have to go and brave the rain – as it’s dog walking time! We’ll both be kitted out with coats and wellies to try and stay as dry as possible! In the meantime, as always, there’s an exclusive tutorial included at the end of this post as a huge thank you to all of you paid subscribers to this Substack – as, after all, your support is invaluable in helping to keep this running. And don’t forget to keep your eyes peeled, as there’s some exciting things heading to your inbox soon! I hope you all enjoy some blue florals this week!
Until next time, it’s goodbye from Toby and I, and happy painting! And remember to stay loose!
