Autumn Florals

Hello everyone, and welcome back to another week of Loose Watercolours! How was your week? Did you get any good weather? Did you get any painting done? We managed to get the last drabs of summer before the autumn really set in, and that meant lots of artistic inspiration!

Last week’s broadcast was ‘Abstract in Pink,’ and it was great fun – I hope you all enjoyed it as much as I did, and I’ve seen some of your work already that’s been posted on the Facebook group. Colour me impressed! The live broadcast is on at the usual time of 8pm GMT tonight, and tonight’s subject is ‘Autumn Florals.’ Don’t miss out on this one – it’s sure to be a blast! For those of you that are Patreons, there’s also a new tutorial available over on the site, which is ‘Dizzy Daisy.’ A fun little number with some bright, bold colours, this one’s a must for injecting some summer sun back in to your painting! And if that wasn’t all, there’s also a new tutorial available on the loosewatercolours.com website, ‘Rest in Shade.’ This one is full of rich tones and fun abstracts to test your skills on, as well as capturing a moment of calm with the bench in the tree’s shade. I managed to fit a little bit of plein air in this week – the weather was lovely, so why not make the most of it? I found myself painting Belton House Church, which has been featured in a fairly international television series in recent years. Any guesses? Go on, give it a go. Yes, that’s right – the whole area was used to film Bridgerton. I didn’t see anyone dressed up in oldy-worldy gowns when I was there, though. Maybe next time.

The painting went well though, and lots of people stopped to chat. And I even got the chance afterwards to pop in and see the church from the inside – it was very interesting with lots of stained glass windows, so the light was very dramatic in the early evening.

This week’s exclusive tutorial, ‘Swirling Florals.’

That’s all from me this week, as I’m starting to get the smell of a freshly baked cake wafting in from the kitchen – so I need to go and investigate!

As per usual, there’s an exclusive tutorial at the end of this post for all of you paid subscribers – after all, it’s your help that keeps this Substack running, and I’m eternally grateful for all of your support. I hope you enjoy painting along to ‘Swirling Florals,’ which is a fun little floral with all sorts of bright colours. Let me know how you get on!

Until next time, though, it’s goodbye from Toby and I, and we hope you have a lovely relaxing week. And of course, happy painting!
