Hello everyone, and welcome back to another week of loose watercolours! How’ve you been? Not too chilly, I hope. The holiday season has well and truly hit near us, and we were even treated to a light sprinkling of snow this past week. The Christmas tunes have been blaring out at full blast, and I reckon I’ve even caught Toby sprinting around to the tune of Elton John’s ‘Step into Christmas.’ We’ve got our Christmas tree propped up by the front porch, and there’s a rustle of decorations coming down from the attic.
So all in all, Christmas is definitely on the way!
With that in mind, this week’s live broadcast is a ‘Snowy Lamp,’ perfect for any last minute Christmas cards that you still have to drop by the post box. You can join in the fun and holiday cheer tonight at 8pm GMT here.
This week, there’s also a new Patreon tutorial that’s been released: ‘Sepia and Blue Flower.’ This will also be heading your way if you’re a paid subscriber on this Substack, as well as a few other Christmas themed goodies for the holiday season.
In this tutorial, we have a look at painting with a limited colour palate, which can be a little tricky, as you have to rely on negative space and light to create shapes, rather than just different colours. It can sometimes be a little hard to master, but the more you practice, the better you’ll get!
Christmas is quickly shuffling round the corner, though, and the Loose Gang are getting their presents ready for under the tree! If you need a gift for an artistically inclined friend, or even fancy treating yourselves this holiday season, you can get a set here.
That’s all from me this week, folks, as it’s been pretty hectic round here this week with Christmas fast approaching. There’s been present shopping, Christmas concert organising, and lots more on the go now that we’re into December, so there’s barely been a moment in between! As always, there’s an exclusive tutorial at the end of this post for all you paid subscribers, as an extra special thank you for all of your support – this week, it’s ‘Apple Day.’
Hopefully the holiday season will be a bit more peaceful for all of you, and that wherever you are in the world, this final month of 2024 will bring festivities and good cheer all around! Until next week, though, happy painting!
